Personal
Daniel "Dan" Hatley is an award winning courtroom litigator, skilled negotiator, mediator, and advocate. Before opening the Law Office of Daniel A. Hatley in April of 2009, Mr. Hatley was previously associated with another Triangle area law firm where he obtained professional experience in civil litigation, criminal law, construction law, workers compensation, personal injury, fraud, real estate law, and landlord tenant law. Mr. Hatley is highly knowledgeable regarding matters of corporate setup and securities regulation. Mr. Hatley also has a strong international relations / economics background, and in 2008 earned a Certificate in Chinese Law from Renmin Daxué (University) of China in Beijing.

During law school, Mr. Hatley was appointed UNC School of Law Attorney General and Assistant Attorney General of the UNC Graduate School. He also distinguished himself as member of the Broun National Trial Team (10 members chosen from each class); winning 4th place in the 2008 National Student Trial Advocacy Competition. Mr. Hatley was the recipient of a 2006 Gressman-Politt Award for Oral Advocacy, and was also a quarter-finalist in the 2005 Kilpatrick Stockton 1L Mock Trial Competition.

In his private life, Mr. Hatley enjoys running, rock climbing, reading novels, listening to bluegrass music, eating Eastern North Carolina BBQ, and most of all spending time with his family (partner - Caroline, dog - Abby, and cats - Holden and Lady). Mr. Hatley is also heavily involved in the surrounding community and serves as the elected President of the Daniel H. Pollitt Criminal Defense Bar of Orange and Chatham Counties, and as a member of the the Business Planning Board of Extraordinary Ventures, Inc., and the Board of Directors for Roads to Justice - NC. In 2010, Mr. Hatley was appointed by the Orange County Board of Commissioners to serve a one year term as member of the Orange County Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee (CAC). In 2011, Mr. Hatley was re-appointed by Orange County to serve an additional two year term on the CAC.
